Ianileds in Torrents Canyons

The documentary production house Documentaria, recently used again our Ianileds in very harsh conditions and definitely worse than the previous production in stalagmite caves. This time Valter Torri, was shooting in a narrow gorge excavated by an alpine torrent.

During our demonstrations many customers ask for more information about the behaviour of Ianileds in outdoor critical weather conditions and that’s a good answer just received by e-mail from Valter :

This time I used Ianiled54 divided in two separate modules inside a small gorge excavated by the torrent, at the entrance of which it precipitated a powerful waterfall. That produced a tremendous aerosol, soaking the air with a high concentration of humidity, over 100% (it was as if we were breathing water!).

In spite of such adverse environmental conditions, fatal for any electronic equipment if not suitably sealed, Ianiled behaved very well : in fact during the 40 minutes of Continuous operation, not only it did not collapse, but it did not show any slight sign of back down (intermittencies, light output drops, colour changes, etc). I must admit I had started our shooting with some anxiety, but I preferred to take the risk and avoid any protection for the modules, not even with simple polyethylene films, just in order to discover the maximum operational limits of these lights, and to know for the future how much I can rely on them in the most disparate ambient conditions.

I can say now, having used these lights in any outdoor environments, but underwater… and I would not suggest anyone to do so, I confirm you my enthusiasm for Ianileds and their versatility. The enclosed picture is the best we could get with our mobile phone as we could not really go down there with our camera backpack … you will note the very “professional” dinghy used as water line “dolly”.
